Biography

Johann Georg Klinefelter was born in December 1725 in Germany.1,2 He migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Rotterdam (via Plymouth), Netherlands, on 14 September 1751 with a contingent of Lutherans on the "Duke of Bedford", captained by Richard Jeffreys.3,4 He married Maria Barbara Keller on 16 October 1755 in Susquehanna, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.5,2 On 10 December 1785, Johann Georg Klinefelter obtained a land patent in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania, for 142 1/4 acres.6 He died in June 1794 at age 68.1,2 He was buried in June 1794 at Fissel's (Jerusalem) Church/Klinefelter Cemetery/Seitz Cemetery in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania.1

Biography

Lorentz Klinefelter was born on 27 January 1739 in Hanover, Germany.1,2 He migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Rotterdam (via Plymouth), Netherlands, on 14 September 1751 with a contingent of Lutherans on the "Duke of Bedford", captained by Richard Jeffreys.3 He married Maria Margaretha Geisselman about 1766. He was the father at the baptism of Johannes Klinefelter on 6 December 1767.4 Lorentz Klinefelter married Susanna Heindel about 1780.2 He was listed in the tax record of 1780 listed as owning 100 acres of which 30 were cleared, 2 horses, 2 cows, and 3 sheep, valued at 240 pounds, and taxed at 15 pounds.5 He was listed in the tax record of 1782 listed as owning 200 acres, 2 horses, 4 cows, and 4 sheep, valued at 181 pounds, and taxed at 5 pounds, 18 shillings and 3 pence.5 He was the father at the baptism of Lorentz Klinefelter on 17 January 1784 at Fissel's (Jerusalem) Church in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania.6,7,2 Lorentz Klinefelter was listed in the tax record of 1788 listed as owning 200 acres, 2 horses, and 2 cows, valued at 138 pounds, and taxed at 1 pound and 1 pence.5 He obtained a land warrent for 213.14 acres in York County, Pennsylvania.8 He obtained a land warrent for 50 acres adjoining the lands of Wendel Heifs, Soloman Flower, Michael Klinefelter, John Coker, Adam Lucas, and Michael Kinsler, as well as next to his own lands in York County, Pennsylvania.8 He and Susanna Heindel appeared in the census in 1790 in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania, listed as the head of a household containing 2 white males age 16 or older (Lorentz and son Johannes), 2 white males under 16 (sons Jacob and Lorentz), and 5 white females (wife Susanna, and daughters Elisabeth, Maria, Susanna, and Christina). Christina Klinefelter, Elisabeth Klinefelter, Jacob Klinefelter, Johannes Klinefelter, Lorentz Klinefelter, Maria Klinefelter, and Susanna Klinefelter were living in the household with their parents.9 Lorentz Klinefelter was listed in the tax record of 1 October 1798 in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania, as owning 1 house (25 x 23), 1 barn (30 x 20), 1 spring house, 140 acres adjacent to Wndle Hoyse, all valued at $420.10 He was listed in the tax record of 1798 in York County, Pennsylvania, as owning 460 acres, taxed at 87.4 cents.10 He and Susanna Heindel appeared in the census in 1800 listed as the head of a household containing 1 white male under age 10, 1 white male 26-44, 3 white females under age 10, and 1 white female 26-44. In 1807 Lorentz Klinefelter was a farmer.11 He died on 27 January 1830 in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania, at age 91.1 He was buried after 27 January 1830 at Fissel's (Jerusalem) Church/Klinefelter Cemetery/Seitz Cemetery in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania.1

She married Lorentz Klinefelter about 1780.1 She was the mother at the baptism of Lorentz Klinefelter on 17 January 1784 at Fissel's (Jerusalem) Church in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania.2,3,1 Lorentz Klinefelter and she appeared in the census in 1790 in Shrewsbury Township, York County, Pennsylvania, listed as the head of a household containing 2 white males age 16 or older (Lorentz and son Johannes), 2 white males under 16 (sons Jacob and Lorentz), and 5 white females (wife Susanna, and daughters Elisabeth, Maria, Susanna, and Christina).
