He migrated to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from Rotterdam (via Plymouth), Netherlands, on 28 September 1733 together with Hans Georg Utz, Eva, and Maria Catharina Haller on the brigatine "Richard and Elizabeth", with Christopher Clymer, as Ship's Master, according to the list of foreigners imported.2,3 On 20 December 1758 Hans Jacob Utz was one of the original trustees for "The German Church Lands."4,5 He was one of the first settlers of the Manchester District about 1758.4 He and Michael Born executed a land record to transfer the deed to the combined congregations of the Reformed and Evangelical Lutheran Congregrations on 9 January 1762.5 On 17 September 1762, Hans Jacob Utz agreed to donate 1 pound to the building of a church school at Zion Church in Manchester, Carroll County, Maryland.5 He was a sponsor at the baptism of Johann Jacob Utz on 14 September 1764 at Zion Lutheran Church in Manchester, Carroll County, Maryland.5 Hans Jacob Utz was a witness at the baptism of Joh.
