     Benjamin Holtzner was also known as Holzner. He was born circa 1842.¹ He began military service on 14 August 1862 at Maryland for the Union as a Private in Company D of the 7th Maryland Infantry.^1,2 He ended military service on 10 March 1863; by deserting.¹

     Benjamin Franklin Holtzner (Not sure this Benjamin is actually the son of George Benjamin and Mary, but he is a strong contender to be the right Benjamin.). Benjamin Franklin Holtzner was also known as George Benjamin Jr.³ He, son of George Benjamin Holtzner and Mary Anna (?),, was born on 13 December 1889 at Maryland.^4,5 Benjamin Franklin Holtzner was the son of George Benjamin Holtzner and Mary Anna (?).^2,3 Benjamin Franklin Holtzner was also reported to be born in September 1889.⁶ He, son of George Benjamin Holtzner and Mary Anna (?),, was born on 17 February 1888 at Howard County, Maryland; according to his WWII draft card, but this is believed to be a lie to make him seem older to avoid being called to service.¹ In 1900,Benjamin Franklin Holtzner appeared on the Federal Census of 2nd Precinct, Baltimore County, Maryland, in the household of his parents, George Benjamin Holtzner and Mary Anna (?). Also living in the household: Annie Holtzner, Susana T Holtzner, Mary E Holtzner, Ivy M Holtzner, Joseph Holtzner, William Wilford Holtzner and James Burke Holtzner.⁶ Benjamin Franklin Holtzner was a ground worker, and out of work 7 weeks in 1909 on 26 April 1910.³ On 26 April 1910,Benjamin Franklin Holtzner appeared on the Federal Census of 1st District, Baltimore County, Maryland, in the household of his parents, George Benjamin Holtzner and Mary Anna (?). Also living in the household: Susana T Holtzner, Joseph Holtzner, William Wilford Holtzner and James Burke Holtzner.³ Benjamin Franklin Holtzner was a listed as the nearest relative of James Burke Holtzner, who; listed his nearest relative as Benjamin Holtzner of Beaumont Ave in Catonsville, MD., his brother.⁷ Benjamin Franklin Holtzner married Carrie (?) circa 1925.⁵ Benjamin Franklin Holtzner was a lineman for the telephone company in 1930.⁵ In 1930, Benjamin Franklin Holtzner and Carrie (?) appeared on the Federal Census of Ellicott City District, Howard County, Maryland, listed as renting a home for $15/month, and not a veteran. Their children Margaret and Lorraine were listed as living with them.⁵ Benjamin Franklin Holtzner was worked for Log Cabin Lodge in Ellicott City, MD on 26 April 1942.¹ He lived on 26 April 1942 at Frederick Rd, Ellicott City, Howard County, Maryland.¹ He listed his nearest relative as Carrie Holtzner, Route 5 in Frederick, MD. On 26 April 1942.¹ He was described as 5' 9.5" tall, 162 lbs, with blue eyes, brown hair, and a light complexion on 26 April 1942.¹ He died in July 1969 at Halethorpe, Baltimore County, Maryland, at age 79.⁴
