Thomas Smithson was born on 30 January 1712 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2 He was mentioned in the will of Thomas Smithson, his father, as unmarried, dated on 11 August 1731.1 Thomas Smithson married Mary Grafton about 1739.1 In 1750 Thomas Smithson owned 100 acre portion of Bells Camp.1 He was a Witness at Misc of Thomas Smithson on 23 August 1774 in Harford County, Maryland.3 In 1776, Thomas Smithson lived in Bush River Lower Hundred, Harford County, Maryland.1 In 1778 Thomas Smithson signed the Oath of Fidelity and Support before William Bond, one of the State Justices for Harford County in Harford County, Maryland.4 In December 1785 Thomas Smithson deposed that he first saw his grandfather, Daniel Scott, when he was 7 or 8 and that his uncle, Daniel Scott Jr. was a member of the House of Delegates.1 He died on 27 October 1795 in Harford County, Maryland, at age 83.1,2

Avarilla Smithson was born on 28 December 1720 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2 She was mentioned in the will of Thomas Smithson, her father, as unmarried, dated on 11 August 1731.1 In August 1739 Avarilla Smithson indicted for bastard and tried in June 1740.1 She died in 1782 at age ~62.2
