Samuel Durham was born on 30 March 1697 in Durham, Durhamshire, England.1,2 He married Eleanor Smithson on 15 January 1722/23 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1,2 On 25 June 1723, Samuel Durham purchased land known as "Edmond's Camp" (a 100 acre portion) in Baltimore County, Maryland, from William and Gillian Wright.3 On 28 November 1744, Samuel Durham purchased land known as "Bilberry Hall" in Baltimore County, Maryland, from John and Sarah Brice of Annapolis.3 On 28 November 1744, Samuel Durham purchased land known as "Ewen's Contrivance" (400 acres) in Baltimore County, Maryland, from John and Sarah Brice of Annapolis.3 He owned a portion of "Edmund's Camp", "Bilberry Hall", "Durham's First Addition to D'o", "D'o Second Addition to D'o", "D'o Third Addition to D'o", a portion of "Edwin's Contrivance", and "Friend's Advice" about 1754.3 On 17 September 1766, Samuel Durham witnessed the will of James Preston, his wife's cousin.4 Samuel Durham died on 1 September 1772 in Baltimore County, Maryland, at age 75.2
