Biography

William Amos was born in 1690 in England.1 He married Ann McComus in January 1712/13.1 In 1713, William Amos purchased land known as "Clarkson's Purchase" (200 acres) from Henry Wright consisting.1 He made a will on 24 September 1757. Ann McComus, Benjamin Amos, James L Amos, Joshua Amos, Mordecai Amos, Thomas Valentine Amos, and William Amos, Jr, were mentioned in the will. William Amos had his estate probated on 10 March 1759.1 In 1759, William Amos had acquired about 1300 acres and named his plantation "Mt. Soma" (Amos spelled backwards).1 He died in 1759 in Baltimore County, Maryland, at age ~69.1

Nicholas Day was born about 1688 in Baltimore County, Maryland.1 On 1 December 1704, in Baltimore County, Maryland, Nicholas Day was named as an heir in the will of Nicholas Day, his father, to receive the tract of land at Gunpowder called "William the Conqueror" and part of his hogs.2,1 Nicholas Day married Elizabeth Cox on 14 July 1709.1 About 1725, Nicholas Day purchased one of the original 1/2 acre lots, and was required to build a dwelling house of not less than 400 sq ft with a good brick or stone chimney, in Joppa, Baltimore County, Maryland.3 On 20 October 1730, Nicholas Day was named as an heir in the will of Sarah, his mother, to receive an equal share of the rest of her estate, together with Dinah Day, Edward Day, and Sarah Day.1 Nicholas Day died before 25 May 1739.1
