William Roberts was born on 9 September 1813 in England.1,2,3 He married Mary about 1834 in England.1 He migrated between 1847 and 1850 together with Mary, Elizabeth J Roberts, H Roberts, Mary Roberts, P Roberts, and William Roberts. The date is based on daughter Elizabeth J being born in England and son James born in the US. On 6 August 1850 William Roberts was a miner.4 He and Mary appeared in the census on 6 August 1850 in Warriors Mark, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania. William Roberts, Elizabeth J Roberts, Mary Roberts, James H or E Roberts, P Roberts, and H Roberts were living in the household with their parents.4 In 1860 William Roberts was a farmer.1 He and Mary appeared in the census in 1860 in Freedom, Carroll County, Maryland, listed as owning $1500 in real estate and $300 in personal property.
